Learn how to make pottery in Berlin
Do you wonder what it would be like to create art from clay? Our beginner’s pottery class can show you how!
Our hand-built pottery workshop takes place every Monday and Friday night at our cosy studio in Kreuzberg. It’s a creative, hands-on space where we can teach you how to sculpt and glaze your own clay pieces. Join us for a relaxed yet inspiring environment where you can feel free to create, learn, get your hands dirty, and make new friends in the process.
How it works
To create your beautifully glazed piece of pottery, you’ll need to book two workshop sessions.
- In your first session, you’ll make your piece from raw clay, guided by our friendly instructor. There will then be a 4-6 week wait until your piece is fired.
- In your second session, you’ll get to play with our range of glazes, adding colour and life to your piece. Roughly two weeks later, your piece will be re-fired and ready to take home!
No matter which stage you are up to, we open each new session with a short English-language overview of basic pottery techniques.
If you’re at the making stage you’ll then have time to play with the clay under our instructor’s friendly guidance. You can make a mug, a bowl, a sculpture, or whatever you feel inspired to create. While we do not have a pottery wheel, you will get the chance to try several hand-built pottery techniques, such as
- Slab building
- Coiling
- Pinching
- Painting/glazing
After your session, your pottery will be fired by our instructors, a process that usually takes around four weeks.
Once your piece is fired it becomes bisque pottery. You can take this unglazed piece home with you, or book a new session to glaze your piece. Our instructors will guide you through the glazing process, giving tips on which glazes are food safe, and how many coats of glaze you’ll need.
Once your piece has been fired for a second time, it will be ready to use. You can keep track of your piece in our Whatsapp group – your pottery leader will share the link in our first session.
Who can attend?
We have designed this session as a beginner’s introduction to one of our favourite cosy hobbies – pottery. However people of all experience levels are welcome to come and create with us. We also welcome participants under the age of 18, however all minors MUST be accompanied by an adult guardian.
We’re also passionate about diversity and inclusion, so we welcome people of all backgrounds to create and feel safe with us. Our space is wheelchair accessible, and suitable for service animals.

Where to find us
Our pottery class takes place at Falckensteinstraße 6, 10997 in Kreuzberg. To find us, go through the big red gate and along the right-hand side of the community centre. The door is about halfway down – look for the sign that says Herzlich Wilkommen Begegnunsstätte Falckensteinstraße to know you are in the right place!
What you need to bring
When you attend our ForEveryone pottery workshop all you need to bring is yourself. We will have clay on site for you to use in your project. We also have a selection of pottery tools and some magazines, pens, and paper to help you find inspiration.
Those up to the glazing stage can also pick from our provided glazes. If you are after a very particular colour glaze, you are also welcome to bring your own paints and brushes.
Please note, our pottery class is a hands-on activity, and as such it can get messy! Please wear comfy clothes that you won’t mind getting a little clay on.

I joined one of the Creative Sundays some years ago and instantly felt part of something special, even if I didn’t yet understand what it was. Creativity has always been part of my life, so I offered to volunteer without really knowing how I could contribute. While exploring this, I started attending the pottery workshop at ForEveryone, where I made my very first ceramic piece. Somehow, very naturally, I ended up leading the workshop myself. It’s been a beautiful and unexpected journey.
