Fête de la Musique Berlin

Fête de la Musique: Let's Celebrate the Magic of Music in Berlin

Imagine this: 858 live music venues, 1,000 free concerts, the same day, in one city

Imagine this: 858 live music venues and 1,000 free concerts the same day, in one city. You hop from one event to another, enjoying a plethora of music genres.

That will become true on the 21st of June (the longest day of the year, a.k.a. Summer Solstice) in Berlin. This is Fête de la Musique!

Fête de la Musique began in Paris in 1982, as an initiative by France’s Ministry of Culture to celebrate music in all its forms and accessible to everyone. It quickly grew into an international movement, now celebrated in over 120 countries. Berlin embraced the idea in 1995 and has since become one of the most vibrant cities in Europe to mark the day.

The philosophy behind Fête de la Musique

The purpose of Fête de la Musique is to promote music, in all its forms and shapes. Amateur and professional musicians become one by performing in different music venues. It is a day where music is given freely for everyone, by everyone.

Join the celebration

Being a huge music enthusiast and amateur musician myself, the idea of being able to follow so many music events (and in just one day), really excites me.

Music brings us closer and it’s a way of connecting with each other and, also, with ourselves. Music needs to be accessible to everyone and this day does exactly this.

You don’t need a ticket or a plan. Just walk out your door and follow the sounds in every corner. Explore your own neighborhood or hop on your bike and discover something unexpected in another part of the city.
